Sandusky school district sees several staff resignations

The Sandusky school board met for their monthly meeting earlier this week, taking action on several issues, including the resignations of 10 employees within the district. While Superintendent Paul Flynn said it was a higher number than normal, he said while the district is sad to see them go, they are happy instructors have chosen opportunities that are better for them and their families. Among those that have retired from her position is JV girls basketball coach Jennifer Taege and JV softball Coach Alexandria Kranz. Flynn said statewide, there is a larger number than normal for available teaching positions this summer, presenting more opportunities for teachers, both personally and professionally.

In other board news, Superintendent Flynn said the budget, with the additional funding from the federal government for the COVID pandemic, allowed the district to purchase supplies that would otherwise come from the general budget. The district ended the year with a positive fund balance, which shows that the district is financially healthy. He said both he and the board are optimistic that the state budget for next year will have an increase in the per pupil foundation allowance which will help offset any potential reduction in student enrollment next year.
