Candidates file for Sanilac County positions

 

 

Candidates have filed for the upcoming August Primary

 

The filing deadline to have names placed on the ballot for offices in Sanilac County expired Tuesday at 4 p.m. according to Clerk Denise McGuire.

There were a few late additions to the list of candidates, including for County Treasurer and two seats on the Board of Commission. Incumbent Treasurer Trudy Bowers is being challenged by County employee Kristy Bender who has worked in finance within the County.

In District 1 on the Board of Commissioners, Jon Block and Creg Berger will run for the position being vacated by longtime member Dan Dean who has chosen to not seek re-election.

In District 5, Incumbent Joel Wyatt, Jr. is being challenged by Alecia Parks.

Others running for the board unopposed are Gary Heberling in District 2, William Sarkella in District 3 and Roger Ballard in District 4.

Randy Horst is unopposed for his seat on the Road Commission while Brenda Sanford is unopposed for County Prosecutor.

The race for Circuit Court Judge involves Mark Davidson, Scott Radloff and Tim Wrathell.

Steve McKenney, Nathan Smith and Paul Rich will square off in the race for Sheriff while John Milletics and Ben Tank are running or County Surveyor.

Longtime County Clerk Denise McGuire is unopposed as she seeks re-election while Doug Sweet and Brian Williams will battle for the nod as Drain Commissioner.
