PORT HURON, Mich. – A Port Huron man accused of killing his wife will go to trial on murder and torture charges.
Douglas Ball was bound over for trial in a Port Huron courtroom on Friday.
Roxanne Polidan-Jackson testified she found her 30-year-old daughter’s body Aug. 20 in their Port Huron home. St. Clair County Medical Examiner Daniel Spitz says Lydia Ball was struck 14 times in the head.
Douglas Ball was arrested a day later in Oakland County’s Orion Township after an Amber Alert was issued for the couple’s 5-year-old son. The boy was found safe with his father.
In an effort to undercut the torture charge, Douglas Ball’s attorney presented evidence the binding of Lydia Ball’s wrists and ankles likely happened after she was dead or unconscious.
