Texans stifle Bengals’ bid for perfection

CINCINNATI (AP) – The number of unbeaten NFL teams is down to two. New England and Carolina own the league’s only perfect records following Cincinnati’s 10-6 loss to the visiting Houston Texans. Backup quarterback T.J. Yates took over in the third quarter and threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to DeAndre Hopkins with 14:20 remaining. Yates entered the game after Brian Hoyer suffered a concussion. The Bengals had a chance to pull out the victory until A.J. Green fumbled after a catch with 40 seconds left. Yates was 5 of 11 for 69 yards after Hoyer completed 12 of his 22 passes for 123 yards and one interception. The Bengals received little production from running back Giovani Bernard or quarterback Andy Dalton, who completed 22 of 38 passes by had just 197 yards and an interception. Bernard ran eight times for 36 yards as the Bengals dropped to 8-1.
