(HUME TOWNSHIP) — A 30-year old Port Austin man was killed in a single-vehicle crash late Wednesday along M-25, east of Port Crescent Road in Huron County’s Hume Township. Sheriff Kelly Hanson says a preliminary investigation showed that the victim, Jason Ezell, was traveling west on M-25 when the rear tire blew on his vehicle. Ezell lost control and struck trees on the north side of the shoulder. Hanson says it’s unknown what time the incident occurred because a passing motorist came across the crash early Thursday morning. Ezell was freed from the wreckage by the Port Austin Fire Department and pronounced dead at the scene. Deputies say he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. An autopsy will take place as the crash remains under investigation.
