St. Clair County Sheriff Deputies believe that a life-threatening rollover crash over the weekend in East China Township was the result of the driver doing donuts in an intersection.
According to a press release, deputies were dispatched to the McKinley and Puttygut road intersection around 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 3.
Upon arrival at the scene, they found a blue 2022 Maverick UTV rolled over onto the driver’s side, with two occupants in the side-by-side vehicle. Investigators believe that the driver had been doing donuts when he crashed, with alcohol also believed to be a factor in the crash.
The 35-year-old driver from East China Township was found unresponsive and with life-threatening injuries, requiring transport to McLaren Macomb Hospital, while his passenger, a 35-year-old man from St. Clair, was uninjured in the crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
