United Hospice Service of Marlette Regional Hospital extends sincere thanks and appreciation to Sandy Schlaud for her generous gift of $10,000 to establish the Help for Heroes hospice veterans fund.

Hospice provided end-of-life care in 2012 to Sandy’s husband Charlie, an army veteran who served 18 months in Vietnam, and she felt that this gift was a great way to honor Charlie and veterans who may need end-of-life support. The program funding is available to veterans receiving care from United Hospice Service and who demonstrate a financial need for assistance.

“Sandy has been such a blessing and friend to our hospice program over the years. We were delighted to hear that she wanted to honor Charlie in this special way and help other veterans. Thanks to gifts like this, our program is unique in our ability to provide financial assistance to those in need during their end-of-life journey,” comments Shelli Greschaw, RN, BSN, United Hospice Service Director
