One killed; one injured in motorcycle vs car collision

(TUSCOLA COUNTY) – One person was killed and a second injured in a motorcycle vs car accident in Tuscola County Saturday afternoon.

According to the Michigan State Police, Troopers were dispatched to the scene near the intersection of Colwood and Darbee Roads in Almer Township around 4:30 p.m.

Investigators say an 81 year-old man from Vassar was operating his motorcycle south on Colwood when the driver crossed the centerline while cresting a hill and collided head-on with a Chevrolet Impala.

The car was going north on Colwood, driven by a 49 year-old Caro woman.

The motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from the motorcycle with the motorcycle catching fire.

The motorcyclist sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The female was transported by ambulance to an out of area hospital where she was treated for severe, but non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators say speed, alcohol, and prior health issues are considered potential factors in the crash that remains under investigation.
