(Port Huron Township) The St. Clair County Animal Control Adoption Center was flooded by kindness today.

James Brown and Barb Brown-Stasik of the Yale Expositor brought in dozens of items to the shelter, donated by readers of the paper. “We lost our dog Tucker a few months ago and Jim was sad about the loss,” said Barb Brown-Stasik. “We decided to do something in memory of Tucker and others who lost their pets by collecting donations.”

Barb went on to say that they collected donations for about a month and are posting the names of all who have given in memory of their pets in the paper.

Jim and Barb brought in food, beds, toys, leashes, collars, blankets and other items in their loaded up SUV Thursday morning.

“We are so thankful that Jim and Barb thought of us for their donations,” said Sheriff Tim Donnellon. “The readers of the Yale Expositor really have blessed our adoptable pets, to make their lives more comfortable here at the shelter and when they go to their new homes.”

Sheriff Donnellon went on to say that the beds, blankets, toys, collars and other items donated will be given to people who adopt a pet and have a need for the items. The food will be given to the animals at the shelter.

If you would like to donate items to the St. Clair County Animal Control Adoption Center, you can simply drop those items off during their regular business hours.

The hours are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.
