UPDATE: Car collides with cow in Worth Township

3:00 p.m. Friday – UPDATE: The Sanilac County Sheriff Department has identified the victims in the personal injury accident —

A cow standing in the road resulted in injuries for the passenger of a 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier early Friday morning, according to the Sanilac County Sheriffs Department.

Officers were called to the scene on Wildcat Road just north of Fisher Road in Worth Township about 12:10 am Friday.

The car was driven by 19-year-old Douglas Brace from Port Huron. He had been southbound and struck the cow in the road. There were two other people in the vehicle at the time of the accident; 19-year old Cathleen Provost from Kimball and 18-year-old Devin Schuck from Smiths Creek.

Provost was taken to Port Huron McLaren Hospital by Croswell EMS for treatment of injuries, while the other two were checked out by ambulance personnel at the scene and then released.

Airbags did deploy and all subjects were believed to have been wearing their seat belts.

The investigation continues to determine the owner of the cow.

The cow died of its injuries.
