(MUSSEY TOWNSHIP) — A 42-year old Attica man is in critical condition following a crash with a tractor Thursday evening in St. Clair County’s Mussey Township. Sheriff Tim Donnellon says Charles Mullins was heading north on Capac Road at around 5:30 p.m. when he crashed into a tractor hauling a fertilizer spreader that was traveling south. Witnesses say Mullins truck crossed the centerline and struck the wheel of the fertilizer spreader and spun. The truck ended up in the ditch off the west side of the road. Mullins was pinned inside his truck as rescue crews arrived. A helicopter landed at the scene and transported Mullins to Beaumont Royal Oak Hospital. Deputies say the driver of the tractor, 55-year old Lee Rupprecht of Emmett, suffered non-life threatening injuries. He was transported to Lapeer Regional Hospital for treatment. The crash remains under investigation.
