At least four injured following pair of accidents in Marion Township last week

Two car accidents occurred in Sanilac County’s Marion Township last week, according to the local sheriff’s office.

Sanilac County Central Dispatch was contacted on Thursday, November 27, shortly before 5:40 p.m., about a single-vehicle personal injury crash on Ruth Road near Stoutenberg Street in Marion Township. Sanilac County Sheriff deputies, along with the Deckerville Fire Department and Sanilac EMS, were dispatched to the scene.

Investigation found that a 20-year-old Deckerville man was traveling north on Ruth Road when he lost control of his 2005 Chevrolet Silverado. The pickup entered the west ditch and overturned. The passenger, a 17-year-old girl from Deckerville, was not injured. The driver was transported to Aspire RHS Deckerville Hospital for treatment of injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office.

Around 5:45 a.m. the next morning, November 28, Sanilac County Central Dispatch received a report of a two-vehicle crash on Deckerville Road near Burgess Road in Marion Township. Deputies, along with the Deckerville Fire Department and Sanilac EMS, were dispatched to the scene.

Initial investigation determined that a 2015 Ford Transit van, driven by a 38-year-old Deckerville man, was traveling west on Deckerville Road when he lost control, entered the eastbound lane and struck a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado. The Silverado was driven by a 57-year-old Marlette man.

The Deckerville man had a passenger in his vehicle. All three subjects were treated on scene by Deckerville Fire and Sanilac EMS before transport by Sanilac EMS to Aspire RHS Deckerville Hospital and McKenzie Memorial Hospital.

Names are being withheld at this time as this remains an ongoing investigation.
