In addition to approving holiday hours, including holiday closures and this year’s trick-or-treating times, the Marlette City Council received the 2024-2025 fiscal year report from auditing services King & Messing.

While the auditing firm did recommend that the city continues to keep a close eye on their budget, as there were some budget areas where expenditures exceeded the amounts budgeted by small amounts, they also reported that funding and revenue for the city is trending up, with no overall red flags.

Also approved by the council at Monday night’s meeting was a policy establishing the city’s procedures and fees for determining and clearing sewer line blockages on private property with city owned Jetter equipment.

In terms of holiday hours, the City of Marlette approved holding trick or treating for October 31 from 5:30-7:00 p.m., as well as closing city offices for the winter holidays, with December 29th to be the only day the office will be open the week of New Year’s Day.

The council will meet again this Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. for a public hearing concerning a zoning ordinance for marihuana businesses in the city’s industry district, including growers, retailers and provisioning centers.
