60-year-old bike rider succumbs to injures after accident in Forester Township

A 60-year-old woman was killed Tuesday morning after being struck while riding her bike in Forester Township.

Sanilac County Central Dispatch received reports shortly after 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, of a bicycle versus pickup truck crash at the intersection of Lakeshore and Downington Roads in Forester Township.

Initial investigation by responding deputies determined that a 60-year-old woman from Hawaii had been riding her bike south when she was struck by a southbound 2013 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 55-year-old Deckerville man.

The woman sustained serious injuries and was treated at the scene by Port Sanilac Fire and Sanilac EMS. She was transported by FlightCare to McLaren Lapeer Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

Names of those involved are being withheld pending notification of family and the ongoing investigation.
