MDOT announces upcoming work in St. Clair, Tuscola counties

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has announced several upcoming road projects in the Thumb.

MDOT will begin making steel repairs to the Wadhams Road bridge over I-94 in St. Clair County on Thursday, September 4, 2025, with the project phase estimated to end by Saturday, September 20. The overall project is expected to finish by October.

This work is part of an overall $2.7 million investment to improve 13 structures across Genesee, St. Clair, Arenac, Isabella and Clare counties. Work includes concrete substructure patching, resealing bridge joints, steel rocker bearing realignment, steel beam repairs, heat straightening, painting and temporary supports.

Traffic will be maintained with single-lane closures on both directions of I-94. Intermittent shoulder closures will be used as needed. Traffic on Wadhams Road will be maintained.

MDOT will also invest approximately $650,000 to resurface M-24 from M-46 to Lobdell Road in Tuscola County beginning next Monday, September 8. The project is estimated to end on Wednesday, September 17.

Traffic will be maintained with single-lane closures via flag operation, with work being weather dependent. Phase one of this work was done in 2024.
