An early Thursday morning crash minorly injured two drivers and sent a passenger to the hospital, according to the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office.
Sanilac County Central Dispatch received a call around 5:46 a.m. on Thursday, July 10, reporting a two-vehicle personal injury traffic crash at the intersection of Juhl Road and French Line Road in Elmer Township. Deputies, along with the Marlette Fire Department, Marlette and Sanilac EMS, were dispatched to the scene.
Initial investigation revealed that a 2000 Ford Ranger, driven by a 16-year-old boy from Peck, was traveling westbound on French Line Road. The driver failed to stop at the posted stop sign and entered the intersection, where his vehicle was struck by a 2015 Nissan Pathfinder traveling northbound on Juhl Road. The Pathfinder was driven by a 51-year-old Sandusky man, who was accompanied by a 22-year-old male passenger.
The impact forced the Ford Ranger into the southwest ditch of Juhl Road, while the Nissan Pathfinder subsequently collided with a building located on the southwest corner of the intersection, causing significant damage to the structure.
Both drivers sustained minor injuries and were transported to Marlette Regional Hospital and McKenzie Health System by Sanilac EMS and Marlette EMS. The passenger in the Pathfinder was also transported for treatment of his injuries.
Alcohol and speed are not believed to be factors in the crash.
