Worth Township is seeking applicants for a township trustee role, left open by the death of trustee Gary Huvaere last month.
Huvaere, who passed away on Friday, June 13, was in his first term as Worth Township trustee, having been elected just last year. To fill his role, the Worth Township board is tasked with appointing his successor, with the township issuing a notice and application for the role on Thursday, July 10.
Interested citizens of Worth Township are urged to submit their resume and application form to township clerk Jennifer Marshall by 4:00 p.m. on Monday, July 21, 2025. The board will then meet on Wednesday, July 23 at 6:30 p.m. to discuss applications and to appoint a candidate for the role.
To be eligible for the position, applicants must be registered to vote and a qualified elector for Worth Township. According to state law, an elector for the role is at least 18 years old, an American citizen, and has lived in the affected township for at least 30 days.
Applicants will be subject to a public interview process, with the appointment to be made by a majority vote of the township’s board. Those interested can find the application on the township’s webpage, worthtownshipmi.gov.
