(CROSWELL) — The Department of Homeland Security is awarding Croswell EMS with a $23,777 grant to help with operations and safety. The grant was announced by Congresswoman Candice Miller. Croswell EMS plans to use the funding to replace outdated cardiac monitoring equipment. Director Tim Niggemeyer says that two Cardiac Monitor Defibulators were purchased last year and the grant will allow for a third to be placed in the fleet’s third ambulance. The original monitors were purchased between 2002 and 2004 with a recommended life of 7-years. Niggemeyer says all of the Croswell EMS ambulance cardiac monitors will now be up to date. Congresswoman Miller applauded the funding, stating that shrinking budgets have made it increasingly difficult for first responders to secure the resources they need to effectively do their jobs.
