Sandusky’s city council welcomed new member Tim Stone during their first meeting of 2023 on Tuesday, January 3, before getting down to business.
While the city committees had been on break for the holidays, city manager Dave Faber has been working on the new year’s budget, telling Mayor Lukshaitis and the council of the several action items the budget would be covering.
For instance, part of the city’s budget would be going into finishing and dedicating the George Haup park in town, as well as designing and constructing bathrooms for the Diamond Trail. In addition, Faber plans to discuss with the Veterans Association about installing an urn columbarium.
After discussing a bit about local street designs, Faber was asked by councilman Brad Harris about further parking possibilities in town, with Faber saying that there are some “approaches” to the local parking problem being considered.
Also at the Tuesday meeting was the approval of three rental agreements of the Diamond Trail park, with the Right to Life Polar Run on January 8 being one of the events requiring the trail.
