Despite the efforts of five area fire departments, a ranch style home in the 4500 block of Jones Road near North Branch was destroyed by fire Tuesday. First arriving fire fighters from North Branch fire department found the home and a garage to be engulfed in flames. Assisting at the scene were departments from Deerfield, Arcadia and Burlington Townships and the City of Lapeer. Firefighters battled flames that spread into the attic area, pouring thousands of gallons of water on the flames. Everyone had evacuated the home and no injuries were reported. Cause of the fire remains under investigation.
