Status quo in Sanilac; further testing planned

Status-quo was the theme of the tele-conference call between local media and Sanilac County officials Monday afternoon.
The County continues to hold steady with 34 COVID cases, including four deaths and are waiting results of at least 15 test results. That information was provided by the County Health Department who says they are also hoping to increase testing in the coming days.
Several County agencies are in preliminary talks of how to best approach a soft re-opening, once approval is given and what that would look like.
County Administrator/Controller Tara Griffith said plans are in place for a soft opening, when allowed, including screening of employees and the general public to including taking temperatures and answering questions before being allowed in the building.
She said measures will also be taken for enhanced cleaning of the building. Mental Health Director Will Morris said calls to a mental health hotline have been far and few between and he is concerned of what he called a “pressure cooker situation” in the coming weeks.
Sanilac County Emergency Management Director Todd Hillman said the struggle to obtain PPE continues, although the county did receive face shields this week, to go along with the large amount of gloves they had on hand.
No N-95 masks or gowns have come from Sanilac County’s order with State officials.
