Longtime Michigan Sugar employee retires

CROSWELL – Keith Kalso has had a sweet job for 34 years. On Friday, Kalso retired from a long career at Michigan Sugar Company. He was hired in February 1985 as a fieldman in Croswell, a position he held for 14 years.
Keith’s next assignment with Michigan Sugar came in 1999 when he became the Agricultural Manager for the Croswell District. He held that position until 2016 when he was named Ag Operations Manager and moved to work at Michigan Sugar Company’s corporate headquarters in Bay City.
In 1996, Keith was instrumental in bringing sugarbeets back to Ontario, Canada, a place beets had not been grown since 1969.
Keith also played a key role in establishing the former Sugarbeet Farm Services program through which harvest services were offered to perspective growers.
