Port Huron police officer shoots Lexington man

Port Huron Police Chief Joe Platzer said officers responded to the McDonalds on Pine Grove Avenue about 7:15 a.m. Saturday morning to a report of a male subject stabbing himself. Platzer said the subject attacked the officers with a knife upon their arrival and one officer discharged his firearm in self defense, striking the suspect. The subject was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries, but Chief Platzer said no officers were hurt. MSP investigators have been called to investigate the incident along with other Port Huron agencies. Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact the police department at (810) 984-2378.
