More construction this summer in Sanilac County
(SANDUSKY) – The Sanilac County Road Commission met Wednesday morning and gave approval for the purchase of new equipment. Quotes were presented for a new skid loader and Engineer/Manager Robb Falls said a team of employees had priced out several brands before settling on a Case IH loader from New Holland in Sandusky. The cost of the unit is just under $63,000 with an additional $38,000 worth of attachments also approved. Delivery is expected sometime this spring.
In other Road Commission news, bids are due next month on six road paving projects scheduled for Sanilac County this year, including portions of Galbraith Line in Speaker Township and Deckerville Road east of the village limits.
Other projects include a one mile stretch of Peck Road, from Cade to Maple Valley, one and a half miles of Melvin Road north to M-90, seven miles of Wildcat Road from M-90 to Fisher Road and a three and a half mile stretch of Maple Valley south of Brown City to Fisher.
The board was also presented information from MDOT concerning the work to be done on both M-46 and M-25 in Port Sanilac this summer.
The hard-surface detour will take traffic on Forester Road, Maple Grove Road south on Old 51 to Washington Road and back to M-25. Work is expected to begin around March 1st and continue in to August.
