Severe thunderstorms that moved across the Thumb area spawned at least two tornados, knocking down trees and tipping over a trailer. At 8:15pm WMIC AND WTGV activated the E.A.S. SYSTEM to alert listeners that a tornado warning was in effect until 9pm for Sanilac and Tuscola counties. Around 8:15pm, trained spotters reported a tornado on the ground in Kingston in Tuscola county. The Kingston fire and rescue departments reported damage on Martin Road and M-46 with reports of multiple trees knocked down. A trailer at 6916 Sanilac Road on M-46 was flipped. Metal shingles torn from a roof were also reported. Trained spotters also reported seeing a tornado touch down in Decker in Sanilac County around 8:09 pm. No damage was reported. The National Weather Service has a crew surveying the damage today, in order to determine the strenth of the reported tornados and confirm other reports from around the area. Earlier in the evening, there were reports of funnel clouds near Millington in Tuscola County.
