Deckerville has always supported its community, and Autumnwood, located in the Village of Deckerville, has that same commitment. As Kerry Regentin was appointed the administrator of the facility on April 4, that feeling of commitment and community will remain intact, in fact it is hoped that it will become even better.
Regentin is not new to the facility, she will be employed at Autumnwood 12 years this July, and served as the Director of Nursing. She received her NHA (Nursing Home Administrator) license through the State of Michigan in 2013, and is continuing on to get her BSN, which she will be done with next month.
Kerry is excited to be able to hold the position of administrator, and is hoping to see Autumnwood grow even more. There have been several major projects recently completed at the facility, including the dining room renovation, offering 24-hour room service, giving it more of a “homey” feeling, allowing the residents to eat when they want and they even hold a “Happy Hour”.
Regentin said that their has been much growth with the physical therapy aspect of Autumnwood. Many people might not even realize that this service is available. It is more than a nursing home, the facility strives to have people get back to their highest potential. There is lots of new equipment, and again a feeling of community, with the therapy director being from Sandusky.
The “Memory Care” unit is also new to Autumnwood, giving those residents that need that special care, a place that is home to them.
Regentin is also busy within the community. She is on the Village Council as a trustee and is Homecoming President. Her husband, Doug, owns Doug’s Print Shop and The Dusty Attic. He is the previous owner of The Deckerville Recorder, which he purchased in 1992. Their son, Riley, is an eighth grade student at Deckerville Schools.
Autumnwood is managed through CIENA Care – one of the largest operators of extended care/short term rehabilitation facilities in Michigan. Autumnwood was recently awarded as a “5-Star” facility. It employs over 100 people, with many of those employees being local residents.
Kerry encourages everyone to come and check out Autumnwood, to see firsthand how the many improvements have made it more than just a nursing home.
