Moe Sports Shop in Ann Arbor turns 100

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) – A popular Ann Arbor sports shop is marking 100 years in business. The Ann Arbor News reports that Moe Sports Shop is well-known as the place to get University of Michigan apparel. George Moe left the Michigan athletic department to start his store. In 1934 he added university clothing to his lineup of sporting goods and uniforms. Co-owners Rishi Narayan and Ryan Gregg acquired it in 2010 from Bud Van De Wege Jr. They say they bought the store knowing they had a responsibility to maintain the sense of history. They continue to build their other business, Underground Printing, based in Ann Arbor. They operate a local 55,000-square-foot production facility and 20 stores in 12 states focusing on collegiate apparel, accessories and custom-print orders.
