
A 65-year-old man is dead following a shooting yesterday morning in Tuscola County’s Watertown Township.
Tuscola County Sheriff deputies responded to a residence in the 9700 block of Willits Road shortly before 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 12, due to a reported shooting. Upon arrival, deputies located an adult man, aged 65, deceased on the property. A second man, identified only as a 62-year-old, was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the Tuscola County Jail.
Preliminary investigation indicates the two men were believed to have known each other. Agencies assisting at the scene included the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, Tuscola County Medical Examiner’s Office, Michigan State Police Crime Lab, Mayville Area Ambulance and MMR.
At this time there is no ongoing threat to the public, with the incident remaining under investigation.
