(ALGONAC) — Authorities have recovered the body of a 37-year-old Macomb County man who failed to surface after jumping into the St. Clair River for a swim. St. Clair County Sheriff Tim Donnellon says Darren Cogbill’s body was located by sonar about 7 p.m. Tuesday. Dive team members pulled it from about 45 feet of water. An autopsy will be performed. Cogbill, of Roseville, was reported missing Monday evening from a boat near the Algonac Harbour Boat Club. He was one of four people who jumped into the river’s North Channel. The other three surfaced after jumping in. Witnesses told deputies that Cogbill surfaced once and then went under the water. The dive team began searching Monday night.
