Driver stopped on speeding violation, flees on foot from stolen SUV

(CASEVILLE TOWNSHIP) — A 21-year old man was arrested for fleeing in a stolen SUV during a traffic stop Sunday afternoon in Caseville Township. Huron County Sheriff Kelly Hanson says Deputy Leppek attempted to stop the 2015 GMC Terrain for speeding on M-25 near Dunn Road when the driver stopped in the middle of the road and fled on foot across a resident’s yard and into a wooded area. Deputy Leppek pursed the suspect and took him into custody a short time later. He was assisted by a vacationing military service member from Tennessee during the arrest. The SUV had been stolen out of Utica and the driver had a suspended license. The man was also the suspect in the theft of a car and boat in Sterling Heights on Saturday.
