A St. Clair County man allegedly used a golf cart to flee the scene of a domestic assault this past Sunday morning.
Michigan State Police troopers with the Lapeer post responded around 11 a.m. to a felonious domestic assault complaint in the 1200 block of Holmes Road on Sunday, July 5.
Preliminary investigation indicates the suspect, Andrew Craner, 27, of Allenton, had been beating and strangling his girlfriend for the last several days and shot her phone with a pistol to keep her from calling 911. When troopers attempted to contact Craner, he fled on a golf cart and was eventually taken into custody nearby.
Craner was lodged in the St Clair County Jail on charges of Felonious Assault, Interfering with Electronic Communications, Reckless use of a firearm, malicious destruction of property and obstruction of justice. He was arraigned in the 72nd District Court on Monday, July 6, and given a $10,000 surety bond.
