Two drivers sustained injuries during a four-vehicle collision in front of the Sandusky Walmart last Thursday morning.
Sandusky Police Chief Steve McKenny reports that officers responded around 10:20 a.m. on Thursday, July 2, to a four vehicle personal injury crash on West Sanilac Avenue in front of Walmart. According to preliminary investigation, a 90-year-old Sandusky woman, driving a red Buick Envision, was traveling westbound on Sanilac Avenue and attempting to turn into the Walmart parking lot when her vehicle was struck by an eastbound gray Buick Envision driven by a 58-year-old Sandusky woman.
The impact caused the red Buick to spin and strike a white Jeep Grand Cherokee that was also westbound and waiting to turn into the Walmart parking lot. The Jeep was driven by a 75-year-old woman from Deckerville.
Following the initial collision, a dark red Chevrolet Traverse driven by a 47-year-old Sandusky woman with a 22-year-old Sandusky woman passenger was exiting the Walmart parking lot and attempting to turn east onto Sanilac Avenue when it collided with the gray Buick.
The drivers of both Buick vehicles were transported by Sanilac EMS to McKenzie Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The Sandusky Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office, Sanilac EMS, Sandusky Fire Department, and several Good Samaritans. The incident remains under investigation. Names of those involved are being withheld at this time pending further investigation
