No injuries were reported following a Sunday fire at St. Clair County’s historic Dorsey House restaurant.
Firefighters and first responders from Clyde Township, Fort Gratiot, Kimball Township, Burtchville Township, and Grant Township were dispatched around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 5, to the Clyde Township restaurant. No injuries were reported, with the restaurant having previously announced a closure from Saturday, July 4 to Tuesday, July 7, for remodeling work.
In a statement to social media Sunday night, owners Jessica and Ryan Clift expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support they received, and assured the public that, though they are unsure of the timeline, the restaurant will re-open stronger than ever.
The Dorsey House was originally built in 1847, with the original establishment demolished in 1995 and replaced with the structure damaged by Sunday’s fire.
