The Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the Tuesday night drowning death of a 4-year-old boy at Forester Township’s Jellystone Park campground.
Sanilac County Central Dispatch was contacted around 10:41 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26, with a report of a missing 4-year-old boy from a campsite at Jellystone Park North Port Huron in Forester Township. Deputies from the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office, along with personnel from Port Sanilac Fire Department and Sanilac EMS, responded to the scene.
During the search, deputies located the 4-year-old boy in a large pond located within the campground. CPR was initiated and the child was transported to Aspire Deckerville Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
The Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office extends its condolences to the family during this difficult time.
The child’s name is being withheld at this time pending the ongoing investigation.
