Michigan State Police with the Caro Post are investigating a fatal traffic crash that occurred yesterday afternoon in Tuscola County.
The crash was reported around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 5, 2026, with investigators dispatched to the scene on Tuscola Township’s Frankenmuth Road, near Lorenzo Road.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2001 Ford Ranger crashed into the traffic island at the intersection. The 79-year-old lone occupant from Fort Gratiot was pronounced deceased at the scene.
This incident remains under investigation. Alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash. Troopers were assisted by Vassar PD, Vassar Fire, Tuscola County Sheriff and MMR.
