
A 19-year-old from Mayville was arrested and charged for fleeing from police last Thursday outside of a North Branch apartment complex, after Lapeer County Sheriff deputies learned the teenager possessed a stolen gun.
The sheriff’s office was dispatched around 12:40 p.m. on Thursday, March 26, due to a report of a suspicious male loitering at a North Branch apartment complex. Deputies encountered 19-year-old Dylan Blackmer of Mayville at a parking lot near the apartment complex.
While engaging in conversation with Blackmer, officers detected a handgun concealed under Blackmer’s clothing. Upon discovery of the weapon, Blackmer attempted to flee, with deputies catching the 19-year-old after a brief footchase. The 9 MM handgun Blackmer was carrying was found to have been stolen from another county, with the teenager arrested and lodged at the Lapeer County Jail.
Blackmer was charged and arraigned on Friday, March 27, being arraigned on a count each of receiving and concealing stolen property, carrying a concealed weapon, resisting and obstructing police, and felony firearm. He was remanded back into the county jail’s custody on a $30,000 cash or surety bond, with his next appearance in court being a probable cause conference scheduled for April 1st.
