The Cass City High School student arrested for making threats last week has been formally charged.

Arrested on Thursday, March 5, 19-year-old Hudson Bowers was arraigned in Tuscola County’s 71B District Court later that afternoon on a charge of making a terrorist threat. Judge Joseph Auken handled the arraignment and ordered Bowers be held on a $250,000 bond, cash or surety.

The charge stems from an investigation last week by the Cass City Police and the Tuscola County Sheriff’s Office into threats made against Cass City Public Schools. During the investigation, a search warrant was executed at Bowers’ home, with several firearms seized as part of the ongoing investigation. At this time, there is no known ongoing threat to the school or surrounding community.

Bowers will appear in court next for his probable cause conference next Wednesday, March 18. Bowers faces up to 20 years in jail, a $20,000 fine or both if he is convicted.
