
Two St. Clair County men passed away Tuesday due to exposure to hydrogen sulfide. St. Clair County Sheriff deputies were dispatched just before noon on Tuesday, February 17, to a home on the 3900 block of Cribbins Road in Clyde Township.
Central Dispatch informed responding officers that there were two unconscious men at the location. The men had been working on the well at the address of the recently purchased home. Upon arrival, deputies were immediately met with a chemical smell in the area. A 20-year-old Riley Township man and a 21-year-old Clyde Township man were transported to the hospital, where they were pronounced deceased. Multiple first responders were also decontaminated at the hospital.
Agencies responding to the scene included the St. Clair County Emergency Management Team, the Clyde Twp Fire Department, Tri-Hospital EMS and the St. Clair County Hazmat Team. The St. Clair County Sheriff Detective Bureau is currently investigating.
