The Sanilac County Board of Commissioners are slated to approve several contracts and purchases by both the Parks Commission and the county sheriff’s office at next week’s meeting.
On the agenda for the parks commission, the board is being asked to approve a one-year contract with grant writer John Frazier. Frazier would be paid $12,000 for the job, with payment coming in two installments.
Also up for approval is the awarding of a work bid to Elite Electric to fix electrical issues at Forester Park, with costs not to exceed $26,193.76. The parks commission also seeks approval to purchase two mowers, a compact utility tractor and one gator UTV, with the purchases totaling just under $60,000.
Meanwhile, the sheriff’s office is seeking a $20,000 sponsorship for one corrections deputy to attend Oakland Community College’s Police Academy, as well as the purchase of an inmate transport van for almost $60,000. The commissioners are also being asked at next Tuesday’s meeting to approve separate contracts for Marlette Township and Fremont Township for law enforcement services by the sheriff’s office.
The commissioners will meet at the Sanilac County courthouse at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 3.
