Only one person is minorly injured following a Monday morning traffic crash between two vehicles in Sanilac County’s Washington Township.

Sanilac County Central Dispatch received a call around 10:41 a.m. on Monday, January 5, reporting a two-vehicle traffic crash on Applegate Road in the intersection of Phipps Road in Washington Township. Deputies, along with Applegate Fire and Sanilac EMS, responded to the scene.

Initial investigation determined that a 2009 Ford F-150, driven by a 42-year-old Carsonville man, was southbound on Phipps Road when he failed to stop at the intersection’s stop sign and struck a westbound Chevrolet Silverado. The Silverado was driven by a 51-year-old Marlette woman, who was transporting her three grandchildren when the crash occurred.

Though the Marlette woman suffered minor injuries, her grandchildren, two 2-year-olds and one 1-year-old, were reportedly uninjured and in car seats at the time of the collision. The Marlette family was treated on scene by Applegate Fire and Sanilac EMS, with all four transported by Sanilac EMS to Mckenzie Hospital.

Names are being withheld at this time as this is an ongoing investigation.
