A driver involved in a June 2025 crash that seriously injured two people has been extradited back to Michigan, according to the Huron County Prosecutor’s Office.

The Huron County Prosecutor’s Office announced Tuesday, December 23, that Jeremy Lee Tonn was returned to Michigan following extradition proceedings from the State of Wisconsin. Tonn faces multiple felony offenses in Huron County, including Operating While Intoxicated Causing Serious Injury, Operating While License Suspended, Revoked, or Denied Causing Serious Injury, and Failure to Stop at the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Serious Impairment or Death.

These charges stem from an injury traffic crash in Huron County’s Chandler Township on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, involving a motorcycle and a Dodge Charger. Investigators located a three-wheel Harley-Davidson motorcycle that had been struck and forced off the roadway into a field. Two individuals riding the motorcycle sustained serious injuries and required medical treatment.

The driver of the Dodge Charger left the scene of the crash without stopping or reporting the incident. Through witness statements, physical evidence at the scene, and subsequent investigation, Jeremy Lee Tonn was identified as the driver of the vehicle involved in the crash. Investigators later located the Dodge Charger, which displayed damage consistent with striking the motorcycle, while Tonn was subsequently located at a local hospital, where evidence indicated that alcohol consumption was a factor. A search warrant was obtained as part of the investigation.

After charges were authorized, Mr. Tonn was located in Ashland County, Wisconsin. The Huron County Prosecutor’s Office worked with the Michigan Governor’s Office, the Michigan Attorney General’s Office, and officials in the State of Wisconsin to complete the formal extradition process. A Governor’s Requisition was issued by Governor Gretchen Whitmer, a corresponding Governor’s Warrant was issued by Governor Tony Evers of Wisconsin, and now Tonn has been returned to Michigan to undergo the criminal justice process in Huron County.

The Huron County Prosecutor’s Office thanks the Huron County Sheriff’s Office, the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office, Ashland County District Attorney Blake Gross, and the Governor’s Offices of Michigan and Wisconsin for their cooperation and assistance in this matter.
