Huron, Sanilac and Tuscola counties are all under a winter weather advisory for Tuesday night through Wednesday afternoon.

The National Weather Service reports that snow is expected from 10 p.m. this evening to 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, with total snow accumulations expected to be between 3 and 5 inches. The winter weather will also see wind gusts of up to 30 mph. The NWS also warns that snowfall during the advisory period will be in addition to snow accumulations earlier in the day of between 1 and 2 inches.

Total snowfall between Tuesday morning and Wednesday evening could exceed 6 inches within a portion of the advisory area, and a thin glaze of icing is also possible on top of new snowfall. As such, authorities caution citizens to slow down and use caution while traveling, as the weather could impact Wednesday morning’s commute.

If you are going outside, watch your first few steps taken on stairs, sidewalks, and driveways, as these surfaces could be icy and slippery, thus increasing your risk of a fall and injury.
