Neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to be contributing factors in a two-vehicle crash in Lamotte Township on Tuesday evening.
Sanilac County Central Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call on Tuesday, December 2, around 5:20 p.m., reporting a two-vehicle personal injury crash on North Van Dyke Road near Mushroom Road in Lamotte Township. Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office Deputies, along with the Lamotte Township Fire Department and Marlette EMS, were dispatched to the scene.
Initial investigation determined that a 2008 Ford F-150 pickup, operated by a 19-year-old Cass City man, was traveling northbound on Van Dyke Road when it rear-ended a 2007 Hummer H3 being driven by a 53-year-old Decker woman. The Hummer had been slowing to turn west into a driveway. Upon impact, the Hummer was forced into the west ditch where it came to rest while the Ford was forced into the east ditch.
Both drivers were treated on scene by Aspire EMS. The Decker woman was transported to Aspire RHS in Cass City for further evaluation, while the Cass City man refused additional treatment at the scene. Airbags deployed in both vehicles, and seat belts were in use.
The names of those involved are being withheld pending further investigation.
