The resignations of two council members and the city’s deputy clerk is on the agenda for Monday night’s meeting in Lexington, the latest development in a series of controversial personnel changes.

Resignations being approved at the November 24th meeting concern Council members Chris Cole and William Ehardt, as well as Deputy Clerk Elizabeth Grohman, with prior comments from Cole indicating his resignation from the council is due to the treatment of recently reinstated Village clerk, Vicki A Scott, who was escorted from the city hall at the height of the drama last week.

In her resignation letter, Grohman said that “[b]eing the clerk of the village is not an easy job. You must maintain the records and must uphold the policies of the village and the laws of the state. It makes it very difficult when a council refuses to follow policies and state laws.” Grohman directly cited the council’s asking that Scott resign or else be fired after ten years of service as the incident that prompted her resignation, saying that she no longer “wish[es] to be part of the Village of Lexington.”

Further comments from Cole and Ehardt on the situation are being sought.

Scott was reinstated to her role officially on Monday, November 17, following a November 12 special meeting concerning her employment status. The attempted ousting of Scott follows several months of personnel drama, which saw the exits of previous village president Kristen Kaatz in May, the village’s previous fire chief Keefe Radtke in September, and the now-outgoing city manager Lori Fisher in October.

The Lexington City Council will meet for their regular monthly meeting, as well as a public hearing about establishing a commercial rehabilitation district, on Monday, November 24, at 7 p.m. at the Lexington City Hall, located at 7227 Huron Avenue in Lexington.
