Marine City Police have arrested a suspect following a domestic shooting Tuesday afternoon that left one person injured.
The incident occurred around 4 p.m. in the 500 block of South Elizabeth Street, with police responding to a report of shooting at the address. Upon arrival, officers confirmed that one person was injured, having been shot in the lower leg.
Initially, police believed the suspect was still inside the residence, with a coordinated perimeter set up by the Marine City Police Department, St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office, the Michigan State Police and the United States Border Patrol. In the meantime, the victim was extracted from the house by EMS and taken to a Tri-Hospital ambulance for medical treatment. Their wounds appear to be non-life-threatening.
As the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team was being activated, investigators learned that the suspect was actually at a nearby home. The suspect subsequently surrendered to law enforcement without incident and was taken into custody. As a precautionary measure, the suspect was also transported to a separate, nearby hospital.
Marine City Police thanks assisting agencies, and assures the public that updates will be provided as they become available and deemed appropriate to release.
