Planned discussion by the Marlette City Council on a regulatory ordinance for marihuana establishments in the city was tabled at Monday night’s meeting.
The ordinance reviewed at the November 3rd meeting is a revised regulatory ordinance, as amended by the city’s legal counsel, for marihuana businesses in the M zone area. However, discussion was postponed until the city’s attorney could be present to answer further questions, with the ordinance being added to the agenda for the December 1st city council meeting.
In other Marlette news, the city has been awarded a $73,440 grant for road work through the Community Service Infrastructure Fund (CSIF) Category B program, with that money to be matched and put towards work on Marlette’s Concord and Cranbrook Streets.
Both streets are gravel and in poor condition, with inadequate drainage, potholes and rutting making the roads impassable at times. The plan is to grade and crown the existing road gravel for positive drainage, before surfacing the roads with two and a half inches of new hot mix asphalt pavement.
Aggregate shoulders will also be added to the existing road base on both sides to support the pavement’s edges, with the roads’ ditches to be improved to help with drainage. After paving the roads, the city plans to begin evaluation of future extensions of the city’s sanitary sewer and water main.
Work on Concord and Cranbrook Streets will be overseen by Fleis and Vadenbrick, with a proposed start date of August 3, 2026.
