A Monday evening crash in Sanilac County’s Marlette Township injured a woman, according to the sheriff’s office.

Sanilac County Central Dispatch was contacted at 7:44 p.m. on Monday, October 20, with a report of a two-vehicle injury crash on S. Van Dyke Road near Clifford Road in Marlette Township. Deputies along with the Marlette Police Department, the Marlette Fire Department, and Aspire EMS were dispatched to the scene.

Initial investigation by deputies determined that a 2000 GMC SUV, driven by a 41-year-old Vassar man, was traveling northbound on Van Dyke Road when he attempted to make a left turn into a driveway. The driver failed to yield to oncoming southbound traffic and collided with a 2012 Ford F-150, driven by a 41-year-old Marlette woman. The impact caused the Ford F-150 to spin out and strike a tree, while the GMC SUV came to rest perpendicular to the roadway in the southbound lane.

The Marlette woman was treated on scene by EMS for non-life-threatening injuries and was released. The Vassar man was not injured. Alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash.

Names are being withheld at this time, as the incident remains under investigation.
