A driver had to be extricated from their vehicle following a Wednesday morning accident in Sanilac County’s Evergreen Township.
Sanilac County Central Dispatch received a call around 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 22, reporting a two-vehicle personal injury crash involving a truck and a passenger vehicle at the intersection of North Van Dyke Road (M-53) and Deckerville Road in Evergreen Township. Deputies from the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene, along with Argyle Fire Department and Sanilac EMS.
Upon arrival, deputies determined that a GMC Terrain, driven by a 76-year-old Deckerville woman, had been traveling west on Deckerville Road when it failed to stop at the intersection and was struck on the driver’s side front tire by a Ford Transit van traveling north on Van Dyke Road. The van was driven by a 51-year-old Marlette man. Following the collision, the Ford Transit came to rest on its side in the west ditch, while the GMC Terrain came to rest on the southbound shoulder of Van Dyke Road.
Argyle Fire personnel extricated the 76-year-old driver of the GMC Terrain, who was transported by Sanilac EMS to McLaren Hospital in Lapeer for treatment of injuries. The driver of the Ford Transit was evaluated by EMS at the scene and declined further treatment.
The crash remains under investigation by the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office.
