In a special meeting held Thursday, October 16, the Brown City council moved forward with hiring an interim city manager, and reaffirmed the hiring of an outside firm to assist in the city manager search.
While there was some discussion of holding off on hiring the outside firm, now that interim city manager Kyle R. Harris was hired, council members all agreed to continue to employ Rising Tide Municipal Solutions of Sandusky to handle the city manager search, with Rising Tide to receive $9,200 for their services.
Harris, in his role as interim city manager, will be paid $240 a day during the transition period, as well as given two days off each in November and December, and one day off in October.
The position became open due to the resignation of current city manager Chuck Bennett in late August. Bennett, who gave a 60-day notice when he submitted his resignation letter on Wednesday, August 27, has served as city manager since October 2022, when he succeeded Clint Holmes in the role.
The interim position is temporary and will remain in place until a permanent city manager is appointed, with compensation to be based on qualifications and experience.
