The Tuscola County family devastated by a two vehicle crash in late September are sharing that three of the five injured family members have been discharged from the hospital.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, October 8, the Putnam family of reality TV show “Meet the Putmans” fame shared that, in addition to the discharge and recovery of the three family members, Noah, one of the injured children, is making progress in occupational and cognitive therapies. The other remaining child, Gia, is reported in stable condition, with doctors able to remove her chest tube as of the social media posting.

The family was injured in a two-vehicle crash on Deckerville Road near Hurd’s Corners Road around 9:02 p.m. on Friday, September 26th. Sheriff’s deputies determined that a 55-year old Florida man was driving a loaded commercial semi truck southbound on Hurd’s Corners Road when he failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with the family’s Jeep as it traveled eastbound on Deckerville Road.

In addition to injuring five people, the crash also killed Putnam family patriarch Bill, his wife Barb, and their daughter-in-law Megan.

Pavel B. Shchukin, the Florida man accused of failing to stop and thus causing the accident, has been charged with three counts of moving violation causing death, which carries a one-year maximum sentence, and five counts of moving violation causing serious impairment of a body function, which carries a 93-day maximum sentence.

He is being held on a $100,000 cash/surety bond, and appeared in court on Monday, October 13, for his pre-trial hearing.
